NCNG #124: A Study In Boxcar Weathering

There's a guy in Canada selling prints of Nevada County Narrow Gage pictures on eBay, some of which I had never seen before.  This one in particular caught my eye.  It's boxcar #124, one of the ones that came over from the F&CC, sitting on the spur at Grass Valley.  Best as I can tell, this is the spur that was on the lower (south) side of the yard, the spur which followed Bennett St.

Anyways, I haven't seen many pictures of narrow gauge cars in worn but working condition.  Most are in "abandoned" condition and that's probably not how they looked when they were in service.  I spent some time studying the photo and made notations of things I saw.  Included below is a clip of that picture with my notes.  You'll probably want to click to see a larger image as it's a bit small as-is.
