Another Quick Update

I did some more work on section #2 this morning.  The overall benchwork and front fascia are now on.  I need to finish installing the lower sub-roadbed then build the backdrop and backdrop mounts.  Once that is done "construction" will be over and it will be on to sanding down the edges and finishing it over all.

While the glue was drying on the fascia for section #2 I started putting down the foam roadbed on section #1.

I used Liquid Nails adhesive and a putty knife to spread it out under the roadbed.  The Liquid Nails is tacky enough that for the most part it holds itself in place.  The few places I really wanted to control I used thumb tacks.

I completed the roadbed for track that originates on this section (ie. I didn't put down roadbed where a siding comes over from section #2).

And with the roadbed down I got out the soldering iron and started putting some track down.

I got to the first turnout and realized there's a bit of a problem.  I had planned to use Fast Track's "BullFrog" under the table turnout control.  The problem is, the control wire swings too far back and forth for n-scale by at least 1/16", maybe more.  I can easily see the additional force would rip up the turnouts over time so I'm going to need to develop a plan-B for this case.  The Fast Tracks website mentions I could go down to a thinner gauge wire.  I might try this.
