I did a little more work on the turntable, again focusing on the bridge.
First it got a nice even coat of paint (Slimy Black, Pollyscale).
That was followed up a few hours later by a pass of rusting pigments on both the rails and rivets.
Which was then topped off by a dusting of "medium dust" pigments to give a more sun-faded look and also to mellow out the rust a bit.
A final coat of either satin or flat should not only serve to seal the pigments but also to mellow out the effect of the weathering just a tad so that it looks just right under the layout CFL lighting.
Looks a lot better than the original.
