Little Projects

No major updates to anything other than I've just been working on some small projects.  Sometime last year I picked up a 6"x8" cutting mat and Xuron tool kit w/ pouch in order to be more "portable" with where I worked on stuff.  This has actually turned out fairly well.  I haven't been working in the basement and instead have been working at the family dining table.  This puts me more in the mix of things and also allows other people to share in what's going on.

Today I upped the ante a bit, and opened a laptop letting Paul Scoles' Running Trains DVD play while I worked.

If you're wondering, that's a PBL UTLX Narrow Frame Tank Car kit I'm assembling.  It's Sn3.  Not that I really am an Sn3 modeler, but I had bought this kit a year or so ago and never done anything with it.  PBL makes such high quality kits that I'm building it for fun (the same way I scratch built the On2 flatcar despite not really being an On2 modeler).

Something else fun I've been messing with is making "caspia pines."  These are such a tried and true way to make pine trees and they're really simple to make.  My first few trees weren't the best but I'm thinking those can just be stuck towards the back of a layout and no one will know, right?

Here's an early tree up against my Blackstone HOn3 #455.  Speaking of another company that makes superb products, Blackstone's HOn3 line is really good stuff.
