August Update

Well, I've been up to a bunch of stuff lately but haven't been blogging about most of it lately.

Almost all of the samples I mentioned two weeks ago have come in.  I went to start installing some of them and realized I was missing the hardware... which Caboose Hobbies was conveniently out of stock on.  So those are backburnered until I can get the hardware.

I've been messing around with hydrocal and sculptamold a bit lately.  My last post showed the frame of something.  It's a small 4' x 2' benchwork area that I'm plastering.  No track, no wiring, just plaster (so far).  I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it aside from use it as an experimental area.  Who knows, maybe I'll drop some track and stuff on it later, but here's some shots of the plaster and casting work.

All plaster gauze'ed up and ready to go

Plaster is so messy

Tada
The gaps around it will be filled in with sclptamold and once some talus is added at the foot of the hill it should look spot on.  Too bad Hobby Lobby didn't have any tints.  I'll probably place an order online for some.

And in other news my first machine tool arrived: the Taig Lathe. This thing is crazy awesome but I still have lots to learn about it.
