Falling Behind

I totally feel like I'm falling behind.  Between being a new home owner, shopping for furniture/decoration, mowing the lawn, trying to maintain a career, being a husband, etc. etc., I feel like the actual amount of model railroad time has dwindled quite a bit.

And then I remember, what's the hurry?

So I probably won't make the train show in November.  Oh well.  I think I'd rather relax, and take my time on things, than rush it.  And besides, there's always next year.

I did some more work on the turntable, building part of the "gallows" portion.  Buuuuut I don't really like how it's coming out.  Fortunately the sides haven't been glued down yet and I've got enough strip wood to give it another shot.  I built it the same as the SJC one, however I'm contemplating turning it into a more traditional A-frame style.

Not coming out the way I wanted it to...

Today my LokSound decoder came in.  I was a bit apprehensive about how big it would be and especially the speaker, however seeing it now it's a pretty good size.  With some trimming the speaker and baffle box should fit real well.  I haven't sat down with all the instructions yet but will hopefully have it going sometime next week.  I've also got some 1.8mm "warm" white LED's read to be popped in for forward + backup lights.

And in other news I feel like I'm starting to become an official model railroader as I now have a stack of kits waiting for me to build them...

Of course you know I can't just build a kit and leave it at that.  I have to detail it, and weather it, and.. and... Last weekend I almost bought a HOn3 PSC frameless narrow gauge tank car which looked really amazing but again I need to build the kits I already have (and I kind of also almost bought a HOn3 LaBelle combine kit too... )

Lastly I found another (or maybe he found me) narrow gauge model railroading blogger, On30, building a mostly free-lanced "swampy" layout.  Check it out:  Blackwater & Mosquito Creek Lumber Co.
